Rules page!

basic forum!

RESPECT - One of the biggest things ignored in RPGs are the “Do unto others as you would want done unto you,” rule. RESPECT should already be known as a major rule, but it's put here to make sure you know. No matter what you think of the person, or what your character thinks about theirs, unless it's actually RP (But even then, you cannot go all off on them. There is always an extent on that.), you respect everyone. PERIOD!

WHAT STAFF SAYS GOES! - This is another obvious rule but, again, just stating it for everyone. If you have a problem with something that staff says, feel free to PM that member and talk it out. Harsh language will not be tolerated.

SPAMMING/ADVERTISING - This is an absolute no-no. Spamming something, anywhere is unacceptable. And it can get you banned from your account for several days. Ads should not be put anywhere, EXCEPT for in the Advertising board. PERIOD!

HAVE FUN - Yet another big rule about role-playing. You have to have fun with everything.

STAY IC - The main thing with roleplaying a character is that you must remain in character. You cannot do something completely contradicting what you said is there personality. Lazy people aren't normally good a sports, shy people don't make best friends with someone in only one post, and most certainly, love takes time to develop.

RELATIONSHIPS- Be sure that the person on the other end is alright with the relationship you have in mind before just "assuming" something. No pairing wars please!

RESPECT No matter what, even if you hate the character, don't go overboard. There is a limit.

NO GOD-MODDING - Ahhhh! This is another one of those big problems in RPGs. You will absolutely not control other movements. Examples are:

-*Bad Post*- France had annoyed England to the point of violence. England jumped up, looking France in the eyes before raising his arm, creating a fist. With the large amount of anger France had caused, England drove a punch straight at his nose, breaking it.

No no no no no no; Absolutely not. You cannot say that you broke someone else's nose. You don't know whether they block, dodged, got hit, or even chose to be hit.

-*Good Post*- England sprung up from his chair, something dark overcoming him. He looked at France before raising a fist. His hand shot forward toward France; with any luck, it would hit him in the face, for he knew the Frenchman wasn't very fast.

POST RATINGS - All ratings are accepted here on these forums. BUT if you wish to get funky, please have your characters move to a more private area, MEANING make another thread for your sexins. You characters can, in theory, leave a room, and then come back later if you wish, just don't have graphic scenes around a lot of people.

POSTS - Absolutely no double posts. The modify button is only a few inches away. Also, there is no rule for this, but please try to write at least 150 words. Describe something in the background, things going on outside, what your character sees, feels, and thinks (or doesn't think), and so on. Use all your senses. I'm sure you'll come up with a lot more than that. There will be absolutely NO one-liners. Consequences will be forced on people who post one-liners. Additionally, hosts should be able to post enough to reach the bottom of their title picture (that is, the picture under their avatar that says "Host").

POSTING ORDER - Posting order here is pretty basic. If ten people are in one thread, and three of them are having a conversation, those three need to take turns posting; however, they do not need to wait for the other seven people to post before they reply. They are having a "thread within a thread" sort of thing. That does not mean they should ignore other players' posts as those posts could contain important information they need to react to or can post off of.

No two or three players need to constantly post back and forth in a thread. I don't care if it is two in the morning and you are having a fun conversation. That leaves everyone else who was offline to read pages of posts that don't pertain to them. They have to wade through those to see if anyone said anything to them or if someone else posted their reply. Also, back-and-forth replying like that leads to shorter, less detailed posts. If you and your friend must have a long conversation like that, then please do so in the PMs.

GRAMMAR/PUNCTUATION - Try your best to get everything right before you post it, but having tiny mistakes is okay. Please stick to Third Person Limited when writing, and keep it in past tense. Remember, talking requires “quotation marks,” and that thoughts should be italicized. If anyone is having real trouble with this, post the reply in a word processor (WordPerfect, Microsoft Word, etc.), in a blank email, or send it to an Admin or Moderator to check over. DO NOT send it to one of the staff if there are only a few mistakes; if English isn't your first language or you have way too many errors that you can't figure out on your own, then you send it to an Admin or Mod.

KILLING - Absolutely no killing. Will result in horrid consequences. (deleted accounts)

TIME - Please note that the time frame here is much different than real time. What may be one day here, can be several weeks in real life. When a class is starting, please give it a few days or even weeks to get through. If there's a particularly large event (like the Yule ball) give it some time.
